NPC Club Singles Championship 2024

THE CLUB SINGLES HAS NOW CONCLUDED. THANK YOU TO ALL THE PARTICIPANTS.

How it works:

The Club Singles Championship is only open to members of Newtongrange Petanque Club.
It will be held on the weekend of 28/29th September 2024.
There is a £3 entry fee into the competition.
All entries AND payment will be required by 20th September, and NO refunds will be given, once registered.
Format will be 5 groups of 5. Groups A, B and C will play 4 rounds Saturday morning. Groups D and E will play 4 rounds Saturday afternoon. All groups will play their remaining round on Sunday morning, then knock-out stages commence. The top 3 from each group, plus the best placed 4th in the groups, will qualify for the last 16 knock-out stages.
Games will be 40 mins + 1 end for all games.
Group games will be 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw.
Knock-out games will be played to a finish; if a game finishes a tie, an extra end will be played and in this end, the coche can’t be dead.
Last 16 players will be seeded. This means there is a possibility that players will meet each other again before the final.

Local rules and etiquette Newtongrange Pétanque Club:

Matches must start within 5 minutes of the agreed start time. Tardiness on the part of a player/team, will result in a warning. Repeated offences MAY result in forfeit of the match, by a score defined by the competition committee.
Opponents will toss a coin for the right to choose who will throw the cochonnet (coche).
Please remember to mark circles and coche.
After the first end, place the circle round the coche.
All strings are boundaries. Boules or coches fully crossing this line are dead. The normal rules for the coche apply: 6 – 10 metres etc.
A coche thrown over the lane strings should be lifted and replaced on the correct piste, by the opposition.
A coche thrown under 6m and over 10m should be placed by the opposition.
Please observe the no smoking, eating, or drinking on, or around, the piste rule. This includes smoking/vaping at the ends or sides of the terrain.
